Coimbatore: Alleging that she is been subjected to undue intimidation by AIADMK cadres from her Panchayat, Velumani who contested and lost from Thippampatti Panchayat in Coimbatore district has petitioned to the District Collector regarding the issue.
Coimbatore: Alleging that she is been subjected to undue intimidation by AIADMK cadres from her Panchayat, Velumani who contested and lost from Thippampatti Panchayat in Coimbatore district has petitioned to the District Collector regarding the issue.
Velumani wife of Aarusamy, State Secretary of DMK (Advisory Welfare Committed) from Thippampatti in her petition has stated that she is been threatened by a person named Senthil who claims himself a relative of the Deputy Speaker, Jayaraman and few other AIADMK members.
Prior to the local body polls, Velumani alleges that the same gang of people warned her to withdraw her nomination and offered Rs. 5 lakhs to do so.
Velumani further claims that she ignored their threats and contested in the elections in a fair manner. Though she lost to the opponent AIADMK woman candidate, she complains that the gang of men from AIADMK continue to harrass her.
"They are sending paid goons to abuse and threaten me at the market place and public places. The gang also threatens me of filing false case with the Police", the petitioner alleged.
In the petition, she has requested the District Collector to provide her necessary protection from the gang.
